Wavellites from Slate Mountain have a rich, attractive, olive-green color similar to its famous cousins from Arkansas. What distinguishes the Slate Mountain Wavellites though, is the very fine, ultra sparkly surface texture. The tiny, lustrous acicular green crystals really stand out, and the radial pattern is classic, where exposed. On Quartz matrix, this is an excellent specimen from an uncommon California locality. These are very rarely available, and I am told they were collected only sparsely, some 50+ years ago now. We seldom see them for sale - a rare California classic!
