Seldom available, these historic epimorphs (cast and replacement specimens) are classics, dating back to the mid-1800s. Resembling a "lady's slipper", as the 19th-century English collectors christened them, true oddities like this are endlessly fascinating. They remain today among the best known of English classics one can search for to own. This 'slipper' is composed of sparkly, microcrystals of Siderite, along with a few clusters of tan, poker chip Siderites along the edges. This cast of Siderite after Baryte is sharp and delicate. Almost legendary in the historic collecting field, specimens of these "lady’s slippers" once sold for way more than their weight in gold back in the day. Old Wards label included. I have seen a number of larger pieces, but I have to say with surprise that I cannot recall seeing such a fine, nice example in miniature size before this one. Kay purchased it from Walt Lidstrom at his ranch house, in 1981.
