Quartz Pseudomorph After Calcite

So far, this is a unique specimen from the find which also produced twinned crystals (below), and it showcases a COMPLETE-ALL-AROUND scalenohedral calcite measureing a whopping 14 x 7 x 7 cm, replaced by quartz! NO DAMAGE, COMPLETE, PRISTINE....it is a miracle this beast came out intact! It is an incredibly impressive (and large) specimen in person. Interestingly, there are oriented brown lines along the edges of the original calcite crystal (which seems to have actually been a twinned scaleno, now I think on it), and somehow these lines of color faithfullypreserve the original edges of the calcite, though they are ALSO quartz. I don't understand how we got this bicolor, oriented effect, but there it is....and luckily, as it makes for a more dramatic and unique specimen! I cannot rave about this one enough...
