This is a gorgeous, deep blue Indicolite Tourmaline crystal from a rare find long ago in a pegmatite in Rio Grande do Norte state in Brazil. It is a robust crystal with highly striated and reflective prism faces with a very complex termination showing a myriad of scintillating multiple faces - reminiscent of the wonderful surface texture of the Ukraine heliodors but a neon blue color. The piece is accented by two small patches of lavender, finely crystalline Lepidolite. Even subtle backlighting reveals the transparent, vivid blue color at the top of the crystal and along its sides, with core being dark. Strong backlighting gives it an amazing neon blue glow. Seldom do we see good Indicolite crystals from states other than Minas Gerais in Brazil and this is a wonderful example! 41 grams. Ex. Rolando and Bruno Gioia, from their multigenerational family collection (both were contributors to the definitive book on Brazilian minerals: "Minerais e Pedras Preciosas do Brasil").
