An exquisite, low-angle, crossed pair of prehnite molds after laumontite and nicely accented by a couple of blocky, pearlescent apophyllite crystals. As with many of these specimens, the laumontite was subsequently dissolved away, so that only the hollow molds are left. Fascinating material from the extinct Malad and Patanwadi quarries dating from the 1970s to 1980s around Bombay, India. Population growth caused their closing. This piece dates to February, 1976, according to the label and comes from the Jamie Bird Collection.
