Description
A great German classic from the 1800s. Radiating sprays of flat-lying, highly lustrous, acicular, deep wine-red Kermesite crystals to a large 2 cm size line a quartz vug. This is quite possibly from the type locality of Neue Hoffnung Gottes Mine, Braunsdorf, Freiberg District, Erzgebirge, Saxony, Germany, since the type locality is also in Saxony. Accompanied by an expertly handwritten, faded label from an older collection. This is a rare, notable specimen. If we can make out the label clearly, it seems to describe the chemistry at the bottom, and this could therefore predate a generally accepted name for the species.
Known provenanceKnowing where your specimen comes from and who owned it adds to its story and value. Good provenance helps prove it's authentic and preserves important details about its discovery.
