Description
This heavy, robust old-time cluster of intergrown, lustrous, dark olive, barrel-shaped crystals of Pyromorphite, to 1.5 cm in length, is definitely from a bygone era. Most of these were mined by the mid 1800s and few of any quality are on the market today. The color is very good for German pyros, and some of the Pyromorphite is pseudomorphing into Galena. The effect of that is particularly dramatic on some of the larger, better defined crystals, as you can see. The crystal size and overall aesthetics contribute to making this fine small cabinet piece. An unusually large specimen. It was long in the Herb Obodda Collection.
