This is a sharp quartz specimen from the classic "diamond mines" near Herkimer, New York. It is so sharp, so gemmy, it looks carved, hence their nicknames. The crystal is perfectly balanced on a natural little pedestal of rock matrix, attached at its base. Ex. Helmut Bruckner Collection.
