Here we have a sharp specimen of classic robust crystals of the rare silver species, Polybasite, composed of a large, dramatic, rosette of silvery-gray crystals. This almost iron-rose like whorl of Polybasite has outlines of numerous, hexagonal plates radiating from the center, each one just slightly offset relative to the other creating a scintillating, tight spiral. The Polybasite blades, on both sides, are populated with several, modified, gray-black, 3 to 6 mm Acanthite cubes displaying a metallic luster. The specimen is quite exceptional and delicately aesthetic, and much better in person. It is complete around both sides. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection, and an old specimen probably from the 1980s or 1990s.
