An IMPRESSIVE cluster of LARGE, sharp and GEMMY pyrargyrite crystals jauntily perched atop quartz matrix from the famous Uchucchacua Mine of Peru. The large crystal is 3 cm! This superb, complete all-around cluster is nearly pristine, with only a couple trivial contacts on the backside. The UNRETOUCHED backlit photo REALLY highlights why pyrargyrite is called "ruby silver," along with proustite and stephanite. These are some of largest pyrargyrites that I have seen from this famous locale. Not much new has come from here lately. Ex. Sean Finneson collection. Note that for PERU in particular, this is an important pyrargyrite as large gemmy crystals from this locality are MUCH more uncommon than from Mexico.
