A rare example of Russian (well ex-Russian Republic, anyhow) rhodochrosite! This specimen is about 80% rhodochrosite, it goes straight through to the bottom. A knob of it has been polished to bring out the beautiful color; it shows concentric deposition rings, as you can see in the pics. The deep color is noticeably different from the much more common stalactitic material from Argentina. Rare material. I haven't seen much around since it came out in the early 1990s
