A fine Neudorf Galena specimen like this, with Siderites, would have been considered one of the top "holy grails" of sophisticated collectors of previous generations, and they should still be considered as such today, as well. All major collections had "a Neudorf" or desired to have one. Pieces of size and quality were always uncommon and this pristine and aesthetic piece meets both ancient and modern criteria for a major specimen. These impeccable old German classics were mined in the 1800s to early 1900s, and today are only found in old collections as they recycle. This cabinet specimen features excellent Siderite rhombs, on modified cuboctahedral Galenas with good metallic luster - all on sparkling Quartz. The Siderites are not "just " an association. They are also of superb quality with excellent luster and an iridescent golden-brown color. They are high quality on their own merits. The intergrown Galenas range up to 1.8 cm across and the Siderites reach up to 1.6 cm on edge. Formerly in the Bement and AMNH collections (see http://minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=139). Great provenance, between the Bement collection and Herb Obodda's German suite!
