Tsavorite from this locale is the world's best for specimens, surely. Very attractive cluster of intergrown Tsavorite crystals, decorated beautifully with lustrous Pyrite crystals. The Tsavorites have a perfect mint-green color, glassy luster, and are gemmy-to-translucent. The Pyrites are modified cubes, with good color and bright metallic luster. This is from a very unique pocket, from which the Tsavorites were referred to as 'faden'. Looking at the crease that runs vertically along this specimen, you can see why. Wonderfully aesthetic combination thumbnail from the famous Merelani Hills. From a single unique pocket in 2017, this is very unusual for a garnet, especially a green one! Most examples will be your classic garnet crystal habit. This one, this pocket - stands out.
