Once in the collection of the world famous mineralogist and bibliophile John Sinkankas, this is an outstanding smoky quartz cluster which is heavily included by golden rutile needles. The luster and gemminess are outstanding and it is remarkably in almost pristine shape save for are a few extremely tiny dings in the tips. Prior to Sinkankas' purchase in 1965, this specimen was handled by the legendary mineral dealer Martin Ehrmann. It is really difficult to find good rutilated quartz clusters in this size range, that are anything more than just singles or damaged clusters. This is a special quality. Originally thought to be from Itaibira, Minas Gerais (according to the old Sinkankas label,) we've since realized it was mislabeled and is more likely to be from Bahia.
