An interesting historic specimen comprising a solid phosphate nodule with layered sicklerite (brown or black on outside), and hureaulite (reddish to pink) inside. This was once thought to be a new species, and named in honor of the district as "palaite," though this name is now discredited. Still, an interesting historic oddity, and mineralogically interesting as such phosphate pods are rare in the Pala pegmatites.
