Another stunning, glassy, brightly colored specimen of tourmaline form this famous collection, and truly from his top tier. I recently exchanged this from the Steve Smale collection. He is noted for being, among other things, rather a hoarder of tourmalines! He used to go to Brazil and buy entire pockets, and simply trade or sell the excess and keep the top 10-12 for himself. Recently, he has let a few go to me, and we've progressed up the food chain to beauties like this. He bought this pocket in Brazil, and showed me all he had left out of literally hundreds of pieces...this is one of the top 3 from the pocket to his mind, for quality and lack of damage and size; and one of only two that have the BLUE zoning between the cranberry "lipstick cap" and the green body. I have often seen these nicknamed the "lipstick pocket" in fact, but I had NEVER before SEEN an example from the pocket with a blue zone - only the red and green. And it is not subtle. It is obvious even in por lighting and take sno fancy tricks to show off the quality here. It is incredibly colorful, and vibrant...Suffice to say that it is better in person. 9.1 x 1.5 x 1.4 cm
