An aesthetic and historic toenail specimen of sharp, gemmy and lustrous, dark cherry-red almandine garnet crystals jauntily set in muscovite schist matrix from the famous Simplon Tunnel between Switzerland and Italy. When completed in 1905, this 19.8 km railway tunnel, was the longest railway tunnel in the world. A neat piece of history, with an OLD German label. Ex. George Elling Collection.
