This stunning small cabinet specimen of Fluorite is from the Yaogangxian Mine, China, which is one of the top contemporary localities for Fluorite. The crystal cube is translucent to transparent in the center and more transparent around the rim. It has so much color and so much going on inside it's like looking into a busy aquarium. This well-formed Fluorite has sharp, alternating light blue-purple and dark purple zoning with a central phantom and a billowing, purplish colored core. The marked dark purple rim has tremendous visual impact. There is a second crystal with similar attributes that looks like an interpenetrating twin (but it is not). The Fluorites are flanked on one side by a pair of accenting Arsenopyrite crystals to 1.2 cm, and on the other side, a single clear, 1 cm Quartz crystal for perfect balance and composition. There is a tiny portion of the corner of the smaller Fluorite missing on the back side, otherwise pristine and only contacted on the backside where it was extracted from the pocket. For the combination of colors, zoning, and stark symmetry, this is an excellent and somewhat unusual example in the size.
