This is a rare (and incredibly large and rich) crocoite specimen from the TYPE LOCALITY in the Ural Mountains of Russia! Measuring to 2 cm, these flattened crystals formed in a lacy patch on the surface of the matrix, which was then trimmed out to create a nice frame for the crocoite cluster. The crystals have good color and very flashy luster! Some are damaged, some are simply contacted as they grew in a thin seam against overlaying matrix, and some are just intact as can be; it's a mix. But overall, this is incredibly flashy, colorful, and quite significant for the locality.
