Senegalite is a very rare aluminum phosphate, seldom seen except in occasional small pockets from this mine, the type locality for the species (in 1976). Other than one freak find in Brazil, this seems to be the ONLY source for good crystalline senegalite, and its been about 10 years since a large find came to market. Recently, though, a good bit was extracted and these make beautiful specimens, of a very interesting rare species. This is a particularly rich specimen in that they usually form in small vugs, and so large display faces are quite hard to come by.
