This specimen is probably from finds of the 1980s and features gorgeous gem wulfenite crystals perched on matrix of malachite. The malachites themselves are pseudomorphs after Azurite, and then covered with a tiny sparkly layer of what seems to be drusy quartz. This is unusual for the location, where much of the malachite actually gets further replaced into chrysocolla, on other specimens. The wulfenites here are also particularly fine, isolated, and gemmy (they reach to a few millimeters in size so they are eye visible). before recently, a lot of this material was labeled as stolzite because of the unusual shape of the crystals, that the wulfenite did indeed look like Broken Hill stolzite - but they seem to be "just" very weird wulfenite. This specimen came to us in the extensive wulfenite suite of Bob Reynolds, former curator of the San Bernardino County Museum and a lifelong mineral and fossil collector.
