A beautiful old classic red "Siberite" crystal section from one of the very first localities in the world to produce red Tourmaline. When there were first discovered, there were no specimens coming from Brazil or Nigeria etc and it was some of the most treasured gem material in all of Europe. Although it is not a complete crystal, this piece has great ruby/pink color and excellent gemminess. The old label accompanying this piece says it's from the Miask deposit in the Ilmen Mountains, but it this area was often confusingly used as a locality for a large number of old Russian gem crystals. 2.5 x 2.5 x 2.3cm
