Chalcocite from the old Bristol Mine in Connecticut is one of the most collectible and rare American classics from the founding days of modern mineralogy, and of industry. These date to the early to mid 1800's. This mine provided copper for the US Civil War, towards its end. Specimens of this size and quality are almost unseen on the market - it is a small cabinet size and, unusually, has a gorgeous association with Quartz. While this has some minor damage on edges, it is overall of sharp form and display-quality from many angles. Ex Rukin Jelks (Tucson) collection.
