This is just a fantastic pseudomorph from Tsumeb with so much symmetry on multiple levels: A cluster of large, bladed, former Anglesite crystals have been completely replaced by an intricate and fascinating latticework of Cerussite crystals. The cluster resembles large pieces of glistening ice that have been dusted with coarse snowflakes to produce an architecturally interesting Tsumeb snow-scape! There are countless Cerussite crystals that comprise the Anglesite pseudomorphs. The largest former Anglesite crystal measures 5.5cm tall and 3.5cm across and 1cm in thickness. The two other pseudomorphed Anglesite crystals measure 3.5 x 3.5cm and 2.5 x 2.5cm, both just under a centimeter in thickness. There are other smaller Anglesite crystals present that have been replaced by Cerussite on the piece as well. All them show similar replacement features in that each Anglesite crystal has been completely replaced by an intricate network consisting of a myriad of Cerussite crystals that have produced a complex geometric, reticulated latticework ALL OVER the crystals and one doesn't have to look that close to see that they are a woven fabric of twinned Cerussite crystals that glisten like snowflakes. There is an abundance of small twinned crystals and clusters of twined Cerussite crystals scattered about the piece that that have grown between the pseudomorphs and sprinkled on them in some places. Some blue-black, granular sulfide matrix is host to this aesthetic array of Cerussite after Anglesite pseudomorphs. This amazing Tsumeb specimen is really both artistic and interesting! Ex.
