Gem, dark sherry rhodochrosite rhombs to 2 mm richly and beautifully line a multitude of vesicles on both sides and crest of the wedge of massive hematite ore on this fine specimen from a Michigan iron mine in the Upper Peninsula. Rhodochrosite is very rare from any Michigan locality, including the iron mines, in this case the Homer Mine in Iron County. This is an especially noteworthy specimen for what it is, with the beautifully gemmy rhodochrosites. They sparkle like little jewels in the vugs.
