Calcite from Elk Creek serves as a welcome contrasting matrix, itself very beautiful, to this tall and perfect crystal of golden gem baryte. The baryte is 6 cm tall, and stands proudly and freely of the matrix, and it's remarkably clean and complete, with no repairs (just a couple natural internal fractures!) The termination is gemmy and sharp. This is an elegant and important specimen in the size range for the quality and balance of the baryte to its matrix, both in texture and in color. Note that the yellow calcites are unusually well colored, and crystallized, on this fine display small cabinet piece.
