Descloizite is relatively uncommon from Colorado, but cuprian descloizite from Gilpin County is unheard of. The fine, hefty, box-work ore matrix hosts numerous vugs lined with sparkly, brown cuprian descloizite botryoids. The large, prominent vug is 3.0 cm across. Another vug is filled with oxide-coated botryoids. This unique, old-time specimen comes with an expertly handwritten, faded label from an older collection. The collection this came out of was a museum stash dating to prior to World War I.
