Rhodochrosite
Producing from 1870 up until 1925, the Wolf Mine was considered at the time to have the finest European Rhodochrosites, no matter what the habit. Here, the Rhodochrosite grows in crystalline botryoids up to 6 mm. The orange-red color is attractive (note: a bit more intense in the photos), and the Rhodochrosite is highly translucent. The scorpion-like appearance adds to the aesthetics and interest of this old-time classic from the Wolf Mine in Germany. Formerly in the collection of W.S. Logan, and includes one of his superb labels. Unusual!
