A scintillating, clear quartz "stalactite" with a core of a carbonate mineral makes this piece singularly attractive. Hundreds of tiny, transparent quartz points decorate the entire periphery of this piece that is cored by slender, orangeish carbonate (calcite?) rods that create an internal phantom within producing a glistening mineral ornament of sorts. No damage, only a contact at the bottom point of attachment. An alluring oddity from the El Rey mine in Mexico. While commonly labelled stalactite, the quartz itself is actually growing on the earlier calcite or aragonite stalactite. I recall these from the 1990's and have not seen them since, very often.
