Quartz on Chrysocolla and Malachite
Classic Ray Mine, the engaging, sky-blue color of the Chrysocolla is accentuated by a coating of scintillating and sharp drusy Quartz crystals. With these uncommon specimens, it is always desirable to find a complete stalactite, let alone two as we have here, and the longest one is 3.2 cm! And if that wasn't enough, the large vug of Chrysocolla, Malachite and Quartz actually opens up in the back, which is a real rarity and adds to the already estimable aesthetics. These pieces, particularly from the Ray Mine, have always been highly-prized and sought-after due to the uniqueness and "displayability" of these great combination pieces. This is true not only for those collectors specializing in Arizona or copper minerals, but collectors in general. Wonderful aesthetics from this classic old locality, which was discovered in 1846 and first started producing in 1911.
