Red under transmitted light, these Kermesite needles are exceptional in that they are 3-dimensional and thick compared to others I have seen from there. They show silvery under reflected light. Half of the crystals are burnished red and half of which have a blue iridescence that is nothing short of unbelievable in person, as you play with them in the angle of the lighting. This dramatic radial spray of highly lustrous, acicular needles rests on a massive and partially banded sulfide matrix. The Kermisites reach up to 3.7 cm. This historic Antimony mine in Slovakia has produced some of the most well-known and classic Kermesite specimens in history, generally in smaller sizes of this quality; and the aesthetics of this cabinet piece are top-notch amongst what I have seen for sale, at least. ex Obodda, in Tucson 1987
