I know that this specimen looks Peruvian, but it was collected by a close personal friend who lives in Alaska and travels by helicopter to the Green Monster every summer to collect Epidotes. He only recently discovered these unique Epidotes which form in "fan"-shaped crystal groups and sometimes in "jackstraw" groups as well. This piece is comprised of deep green, highly lustrous, translucent, thin, prismatic crystals of Epidote in a "fan"-shaped aggregate. It is in superb condition and most of the crystals are virtually undamaged, save the base where it detached from the pocket wall. A very cool U.S. Epidote specimen from what I was told was a one time find.
