Russia was once known for its fine historic Amethyst locations, and in particular Hasavarka for it sceptered Amethysts - although they are very rarely seen for sale today. The crystals have good purple color with wisps of Smoky throughout, and the luster is superb. The outer zones of the Amethysts are quite gemmy and refractive, creating an additional 'sparkle' that adds even more to the aesthetics. The largest crystal, well-sceptered, is 8.5 cm tall with a termination that is nearly 6 cm wide. There is minor contacting in the back, and remarkably little edge wear. This is an impressive and attractive cabinet-sized cluster, and it is considerably better in person. This would be an impressive amethyst from ANY locality, let alone something as rare and unusual as Russian.
