Tsumeb is considered the greatest of all mines, and Azurites are among the most prized specimens from there. This very fine cluster features a gorgeous 4.1 cm rhombic Azurite crystal, backed up at the base and right side by other, partial rhombs. The luster is fabulous, and the edges show the gemminess by transmitting light, even with the deep color. The back is contacted, and there is some contacting along the bottom edge, but it looks so natural (which it is, really) that it just blends right in. Highly representative of the quality of Azurites from Tsumeb...Better yet in person. Honestly, before the flood of recent Milpillas azurites came to market, this one would have counted for double the value. Alas, azurite is now, briefly, too common for a bit and so we valued this down accordingly. This will be a blip. Tsumeb is still Tsumeb, and these azurites are still the classic old style.
