3.6 x 1.7 x 1.2 cm (Specimen); 1.23 carats; 6.83 mm x 5.58 mm (Gem) - The purple manganese bearing variety of Tremolite is called Hexagonite, because it was originally thought to be hexagonal in habit, but was actually proven to be monoclinic. The name is still used in the gem and mineral trade despite its confusion. This set is a classic rough and cut from the very old locale in Talcville, New York featuring a slender, prismatic, rich purple colored crystal of Hexagonite Tremolite sitting on massive softer purple color Tremolite matrix with an accompanying "Emerald" cut stone with good gem areas, though it is not completely gem quality. The color is excellent, and for the size, it's a respectable gem of this hard to find material.
