This is a gorgeous "castle-like" cluster of rich green gem tourmaline crystals. It is notable for several features: the sharpness and quality; complete perfection 360 degrees; lack of repairs, which is amazing in any cluster this size from these finds; and in the combination and contrast of two distinct crystal habits. All of those first qualities are obvious; however, the final comment is worth talking about. HOW it is possible, we still are not sure, but you can easily see the contrast of the sharp pointed (pinacoidal) prismatic terminations on the gemmy elongated crystals, even as they literally sit next to "normal" tourmalines with a flat termination adjacent. Why should one form differently from the other, in the same conditions? There is really no full answer to this phenomenon, which is sometimes seen in tourmaline and other gem crystals, although rarely in fine matrix pieces. Many of the gem points were broken when these pockets were found and made their way out as cutting rough. Too few fine crystals were saved - only due to careful stewardship by the collaboration of owners at that time. An old gem crystal cluster famous of a style once found in the famous era of the "Rocket Pocket" and a few other similar pockets around 2007-2009. We purchased it directly from Daniel Trinchillo, who was mining the deposit at the time with other partners. It has remained here in storage ever since.
