This is one of the best specimens known from a very small find in the Sahara desert that was mined for only a short time by a couple of intrepid miners about 19 months ago. The fluorites were not found in rich pockets, but one at a time, and the conditions in that part of the Sahara were so forbidding that eventually the guys just gave up; it wasn't worth the effort. The rarity of these specimens makes them all that much more desirable. The rectangular crystals have intense purple color, and fine transparency and luster. The display face of this specimen angles back perfectly to show off the crystals at their best. The crystals measure to 2 cm across. This specimen is actually the last we know of from our own sources, and my associates and I didn't see a single one of them for sale at the Tucson show. So they have pretty much all disappeared into collections. This may be your only shot at a really superb specimen from this find. 12 x 6 x 5.5 cm
