A rare, exemplary, tabular crystal of Bobdownsite. This single crystal, on matrix, is an exceptional 1.9 cm across, with excellent luster and form. The cream color, with hints of blue-green, is very attractive. When these were first collected in the Yukon they were thought to be large crystals fo the already known species Whitlockite, but after further study were found to be a new species. They are now named for Prof. Bob Downs from the University of arizona. Truly, a superb thumbnail, worthy of competition! This was one of the larger crystals from a single pocket brought out by Rod Tyson, in the early 2000s.
