Blood-red, scalenohedral crystals of Rhodochrosite, such as this specimen, are the defining character of the from the Kalahari Manganese Fields and for the species worldwide! The eye gravitates to the well-formed, gemmy crystals and their vibrant red color. N'Chwaning Mine Rhodochrosites have a well deserved distinction among collectors and were found only in a few-year period in the early 1980s and not since.
