On a matrix of white masive garnet are perched two glassy and gemmy, olive to cognac-colored crystals of topazolite to 2 cm across. This is a rare and excellent size for the species. Both crystals are doubly terminated and both exhibit small regions of unusual, incipient hopper growth. Members of the garnet family, other than this find, rarely show this growth pattern. Aesthetically isolated on contrasting matrix, this is an excellent topazolite from any locality - but would be hard to find in this quality elsewhere, from previous finds. Perhaps more than the demantoids (which cost a lot more and are highly valued for sheer color pizzazz), this locale will be remembered for its topazolite.
