This is a slice through a cluster of intergrown stalactites of gorgeous pink rhodochrosite. There must be two dozen individual "cores" visible here (with radiating deposition bands). The color is an intense, deep salmon pink. The specimen has been polished on both sides to bring out the beauty. This was sliced from old material - such quality is hard to obtain today.
