Sphalerite and Fluorite with Chalcopyrite

Emplaced on limestone and purple fluorite is a mound of intergrown, splendent, black sphalerite crystals, to 2.4 cm in length, with reddish highlights. Scattered about on the sphalerite are tiny, brassy yellow crystals of chalcopyrite. Mined in February 1988 from the Butter knife Pod. Beautiful and lustrous in person! Note it has nearly complete, with only minor peripheral damage. Ex. Ross Lillie Collection. RCL# 2146.
