Old English brookites are exceedingly rare, and this is a textbook example! A single, highly lustrous and glassy, rich brown colored brookite crystal, 1.4 cm across, is emplaced on a drusy quartz on a limestone matrix. It is assumed by us that the crystal has been repaired to its matrix at some time in the past, judging by a hairline crack in part of the crystal and some faint yellow fluorescence at the base that may indicate glue (although the previous label did not indicate this). Repaired or not, this is a significant and displayable example of an uncommon brookite crystal from an important, yet somewhat obscure locality. ex. Simon Harrison specimen.
