A thumber that amply demonstrates why these New York quartzes are called "Herkimer Diamonds." They are just so stunningly limpid and fine, like quartz from very few other localities in the world. One of the crystals in this cluster in particular is truly like a perfect jewel. Most of these are repaired, and this may well be, though it is considered acceptable in the case.
