These bright green tourmalines are exceedingly rare and sought-after by collectors and gem cutters - definitely amongst the very most valuable tourmalines on earth. They get their unique color from a trace of vanadium, with perhaps a small amount of chromium (see Vol. 40, No. 5 of the September-October 2009 Mineralogical Record). This relatively large crystal is complete all around and terminated, with bright green color, particularly towards the top and fine gemminess. It weighs 8 grams.
