The original azurite crystal that pseudomorphed here into velvety green malachite has lost its sharp edges and become rounded so that it looks almost like a caterpillar crawling along the contrasting dolomite matrix. It is cupped inside the dolomite-lined pocket in which it formed, lined with sparkly little crystals.
