Shigaite, Rhodochrosite
Shigaite is a very rare aluminum manganese sulfate. This fine thumbnail features a gemmy, 9mm, tabular, hexagonal, dark cherry-red shigaite crystal placed atop a mounded clusters of very sparkly, transparent, rose-red rhodochrosite crystals, which are richly sprinkled with gemmy, cherry-red, micro shigaite crystals. This piece comes from a small recent find and is highly representative of both species.
