This is an intensely colored specimen of color-changing chrysoberyl (alexandrite) that shows beautiful green and purple color change under different lighting conditions (purple in indoors fluorescent lights, green in sunlight/halogen). The piece is from the old workings in former South Rhodesia. It is complete all around, with some minor attached schist matrix. Note: This is only one specimen. The first image just shows a side-by-side of the colors under different lighting. Joe Budd Photos.
