This lovely, large small-cabinet specimen from a famous Chinese mineral locality brings a beauty all its own to the locality, because it is so very different from the normal style that made this place famous for big flat crystals of unusual size. The Rhodos are flattened rhombs, a distinctive habit that is classic for Wutong, and their medium-pink color is excellent. One side of the piece is completely covered with these 5mm Rhodochrosites, like pink frosting on a cake, while another side is partially covered so that the glassy and gemmy Quartz needles, as well as the lustrous, mm-size Pyrites, can be clearly seen underneath. Overall exceedingly aesthetic, and you have two excellent choices for display angle. Old material from the early 2000 to 2010 range.
