I first purchased this specimen from a health spa owner, who had her resort in the town of Guanajuato, and drove to shows in Texas and Tucson in the early 1990s. It remained in my longtime collection of Calcites, which I built up until 1997, and then when I sold a few items in the early 2000's it went to my good friend and customer, Dave Stoudt. It resided in his own Mexico collection for another decade until coming back to me recently. I still find it unique and appealing, even amidst a ton of Guanajuato amethyst and combination pieces that have been seen over the years. The crystal is 4 cm across and stands perfectly and elegantly on the purple matrix. It is uniquely aesthetic among so much commercial material that came from the mine, and I always loved it.
